Energy Renewable Plan:
Kentucky should enact legislation that requires a state renewable energy portfolio standard (RPS). Most states have a RPS, including Texas a big producer of oil and gas. By 2030, a RPS in Kentucky should mandate state utilities derive 10-15% of electricity from energy renewables (i.e. solar, wind, biomass). This is an incremental approach without harming the state’s economy. Renewables are a source for new jobs, attracting new businesses to the state and a cheaper source of energy due to innovative technologies. I will work to support energy renewables in Kentucky to help expand a 21st century economy.
